PEEP SHOW

by Rino Stefano Tagliafierro

Voyeurism in History of Art displayed in a mysterious black box

PEEP SHOW is a video show projected in a cube shaped container with a hole in it: the spectator, by peering into it as if it was a keyhole, is involved in an enthralling vision in which art is the object of desire.

The most attractive erotic icons of modern and Neo-classical art are digitally brought to life in an atmosphere loaded with sexual tension that transforms voyeurism into a sublime act. The work was designed to provide a secret and intimate viewing experience: a form of erotic entertainment beyond time that mimics the classic peep show or monoscope of the start of the 20th century, an apparatus in which the spectator, by paying a few pennies, could “peep” at a selection of risqué photographs.

In this case the currency is not physical and the user pays by PayPal or credit card.
