“Sorolla a través de la luz” moves to Valencia

With more than 180,000 visitors in Madrid, the exhibition Sorolla Through Light finally arrives in Valencia, the birthplace of the master of light — bringing an immersive journey into Joaquín Sorolla’s light-filled masterpieces. Produced by Light Art Exhibition to mark the centenary of Sorolla’s death, the major retrospective brings together 45 original works, virtual reality experiences and an immersive environment by KARMACHINA, under the artistic direction of Gianfranco Iannuzzi. On view at Fundación Bancaja from 5 October 2023 to 18 February 2024, the exhibition celebrates the painter’s life and luminous style.

At the heart of the exhibition, a multimedia installation immerses visitors in Sorolla’s world through monumental 360° LED screens spanning 215 square metres and 32 million pixels, paired with an 8-speaker spatial audio system. Structured in eight chapters and drawing on over 200 selected works, the journey moves through sunlit beaches, lush gardens and everyday life, blending original paintings, digital animation and audiovisual treatment with a soundtrack by Alberto Modignani — merging music and ambient sound into a fully immersive, emotional experience.
