To mark the centenary of Sorolla’s death, Light Art Exhibition presents a major retrospective dedicated to the master of Spanish painting in the extraordinary setting of the Royal Palace in Madrid — an immersive journey into Joaquín Sorolla’s light-filled masterpieces. For the first time, the exhibition brings together the artist’s original works, virtual reality experiences and an immersive environment by KARMACHINA, under the artistic direction of Gianfranco Iannuzzi. On view from 17 February to 30 June 2023, the exhibition celebrates the painter’s life and luminous style through an unprecedented point of view.
At the heart of the exhibition, a multimedia installation immerses visitors in Sorolla’s world through monumental 360° LED screens spanning 215 square metres and 32 million pixels, paired with an 8-speaker spatial audio system. Structured in eight chapters and drawing on over 200 selected works, the journey moves through sunlit beaches, lush gardens and everyday life, blending original paintings, digital animation and audiovisual treatment with a soundtrack by Alberto Modignani — merging music and ambient sound into a fully immersive, emotional experience.
