A tribute to Ennio Morricone at the Premios Princesa de Asturias

A tribute to Ennio Morricone at the Premios Princesa de Asturias

Following the success of “Tríptiko. A vision inspired by Hieronymus Bosch”, the multimedia concert Karmachina created for the Premios Princesa de Asturias 2019, the Fundación Princesa de Asturias invited the Milanese studio back to craft an audiovisual tribute to Ennio Morricone, one of this edition’s honorees. Morricone’s Suite immerses visitors in the maestro’s iconic music, transforming his cinematic themes into a four-movement audiovisual journey, and will be presented on October 8, 2020, at the inauguration of the Premios in Oviedo, remaining on view for the full duration of the event.

Each movement channels a musical archetype drawn from Morricone’s soundtracks: duel evokes the epic tension of westerns, seduction explores passion and youthful desire, fear amplifies suspense and horror, and art celebrates cinema’s performative power. KARMACHINA translates his melodies into visual motifs, while sound designer Alberto Modignani reinterprets the original scores, blending iconic film imagery with abstract, symbolic visuals that capture both the timeless and contemporary dimensions of Morricone’s creative legacy.
