Video mapping lights up Parma, Capital of Culture 2020

KARMACHINA takes part in the opening weekend of Parma Capital of Culture 2020 with two video mapping projects.

The façade of Palazzo della Pilotta, in Piazzale della Pace, once again welcomes #22.2.22, dedicated to the glorious Monument to Giuseppe Verdi. Originally created for Festival Verdi 2016, the piece traces the Monument’s history — inaugurated in 1920, destroyed in an air raid twenty-four years later — through archival footage, cinematic and pictorial imagery, and an electronic reworking of four Verdi operas by Optogram. Conceived and produced by Giovanni Sparano in collaboration with Barezzi Festival, the work unfolds in four acts: construction, inauguration, damage, destruction.

The tower of Palazzo del Governatore, in Piazza Garibaldi, hosts the inauguration of a new installation exploring the themes of “Time Machine. Vedere e sperimentare il tempo,” an exhibition dedicated to media and how they reshape our perception of space and time.
